Compliance with International Standards of Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

Forestry and Forest Melioration is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The Editorial Board follows internationally recognized guidelines and best practices established by leading organizations, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

 

COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)

The journal adheres to COPE Core Practices and guidelines, ensuring:

  • transparency and integrity in submission, peer review, and publication processes;
  • independence and impartiality of editorial decision-making;
  • prevention of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and redundant publication;
  • clear authorship criteria and accountability for contributions;
  • established procedures for handling complaints, appeals, and ethical concerns;
  • implementation of formal mechanisms for corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions.

WAME (World Association of Medical Editors)

In line with WAME recommendations, the journal ensures:

  • editorial independence from external influence, including sponsors and commercial interests;
  • full disclosure and management of conflicts of interest;
  • objective, fair, and timely peer review;
  • transparency regarding funding sources and research support;
  • support for inclusivity and the development of early-career researchers.

DORA (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment)

The journal endorses the principles of DORA and commits to:

  • assessing research on its scientific merit, originality, and impact rather than relying solely on journal-based metrics;
  • recognizing a broad range of scholarly outputs, including datasets, software, and other research products;
  • valuing interdisciplinary and innovative research contributions;
  • supporting Open Science practices, including preprints and open access to research outputs.

ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors)

The journal applies ICMJE recommendations across disciplines, including:

  • clear authorship criteria based on substantial intellectual contribution;
  • adherence to ethical standards in research involving humans, animals, and data;
  • promotion of transparency and responsible data sharing practices.

Open Science, Plan S, and FAIR Data Principles

The journal supports modern scholarly communication standards by:

  • promoting immediate Open Access to published research;
  • encouraging compliance with Plan S requirements where applicable;
  • implementing and promoting the FAIR Data Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable);
  • encouraging authors to deposit data in trusted repositories and provide persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI).

Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence

The journal requires responsible and transparent use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in research and publication. Authors must:

  • clearly disclose the use of AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation or data analysis;
  • ensure that AI tools are not listed as authors;
  • take full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the content.

The Editorial Board continuously monitors and updates its policies to align with evolving international standards and best practices in scholarly publishing, ensuring compliance with requirements of major indexing databases and publishing organizations.
