Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy
Forestry and Forest Melioration follows a full Open Access policy, ensuring that all published content is freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication, without any subscription or access fees. This policy is consistent with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
The journal is committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its scholarly content and applies internationally recognized standards of digital archiving and research data management.
Archiving and Indexing
The journal ensures long-term availability of its content through archiving and indexing in:
- the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine;
- Index Copernicus International (Poland);
- the Archives section of the journal’s official website;
- institutional and national Open Access repositories.
Authors are permitted and encouraged to self-archive the final published version (Version of Record) of their articles in institutional or subject repositories, provided that a full bibliographic citation to the original publication is included.
Digital Preservation
To guarantee long-term digital preservation and safeguard access to published content, the journal implements the following measures:
- regular backup of the electronic archive
- use of standardized file formats (PDF, HTML) suitable for long-term preservation
- indexing of metadata and full texts in national and international databases
- assignment of a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each publication to ensure persistent access
- participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PN) based on LOCKSS/CLOCKSS technologies to provide secure and redundant content preservation.

These measures ensure that the journal’s content remains accessible even in the event of technical failure or discontinuation of the journal’s website.
Accessibility and Compliance
The journal ensures accessibility and discoverability of its content by:
- providing immediate Open Access to all articles
- using standardized and interoperable file formats
- assigning DOIs to all publications
- complying with OpenAIRE guidelines to facilitate indexing and integration with international research infrastructures.
Self-Archiving Policy
Authors retain the right to deposit the final published version of their article in:
- institutional repositories
- subject-specific repositories
- personal or institutional websites.
Such deposits must include a proper citation and a link to the original publication on the journal’s website.
FAIR Data Principles
To enhance the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR) of research outputs, authors are encouraged to:
- deposit research data in trusted repositories
- provide persistent identifiers for datasets (e.g., DOI)
- include links to datasets in their publications
- follow the FAIR Guiding Principles for scientific data management and stewardship.
Policy Updates
The Editorial Board reserves the right to update this policy in accordance with evolving international standards, including recommendations from DOAJ, COPE, and other leading organizations in scholarly publishing.
